Capped Bust Quarter Value Guide

The Capped Bust Quarter was produced from 1815 to 1838, featuring a design by John Reich similar to the Capped Bust Dime. The obverse showcases Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, and the reverse bears a bald eagle with a shield on its chest, clutching arrows and an olive branch. During its mintage, the Capped Bust Quarter underwent a design modification in 1831, transitioning from a large diameter to a reduced diameter format. This change resulted in two distinct subtypes for collectors to pursue: the large diameter and the reduced diameter coins.

The large diameter coins are scarcer and more valuable, particularly the 1823/2 overdate issue.
